About the Club

Loughborough Chess Club was founded about 1890.

As well as participating in the Leicestershire Chess League, we play friendly games on our regular club nights.  The most popular format for these is 10-minute games, i.e. each player has 10 minutes to make all their moves.  Now that we have some electronic clocks, Fischer time controls (an initial time limit to which a few seconds are added per move) have also become increasingly popular.

To cover our costs, we charge an annual subscription fee of £25.  New players are welcome to come and try out the club before becoming a member.
